I am unaware of research specifically focused on feedback acceptance among gifted students; however, a few resources regarding feedback do come to mind. You may want to review Dylan Wiliam’s work on feedback for learning (see Embedded Formative Assessment, Wiliam, 2011). Carol Dweck’s work on mindsets is intriguing as well. She offers some information about slight gender-based differences in feedback acceptance. Again, Dweck is careful to point out that these differences are slight tendencies, certainly impacted by socialization, and cannot not be considered universal. John Hattie’s work (see http://visible-learning.org) does offer some data on feedback. Again, it is not focused on acceptance differences among varied achievement rankings; it is overarching research on feedback to promote learning. Finally, I am studying The Motivated Brain (Gregory, G. & Kaufeldt, M., 2015). It is a fascinating work on brain-based motivation; in it, effective feedback is described.

Do you know of any research about “feedback acceptance” among talented and gifted students? Thank you, Tina

The work at Kurn Hattin inspires us at Renaissance. You put differentiation into practice, and in doing so, truly accelerate learning for each student and adult.

Best regards, Jan

We met at the NH forum last year, and I’ll look for you at this year’s forum in Montpelier VT, Oct. 22. My residential campus, Kurn Hattin Homes for Children, is midway between the 2 sites! Wish you could stop in for supper with us….Our Select Choir sang the national anthem for the Red Sox team in Boston recently!
