eduCLIMBER customers can now print any smartFORM in a student’s home language, removing barriers to communicating effectively with each student’s parents, families, and guardians. eduCLIMBER’s smartFORMS are an essential tool for driving alignment around student needs, goals, and progress—both within the school and at the student’s home. These new home language translations help districts ensure that key information is accessible and meaningful to all students’ parents and guardians for more equitable communications and more cohesive student supports.

How it works

Home languages can be mapped under System Configuration. There are 75 supported home languages available for use. Each student’s home language will be populated through your student information system automation or upload, and those languages can then be mapped to the translated language.

Then, educators are ready to print the smartFORMS as usual, either via the smartFORMS tab or student profile. The screenshot below shows the smartFORMS tab.

After selecting “Download Zip File” to print, select “Home Language.” Each form will be downloaded in the home language tied to the student’s account.

Note: Multiple student forms may be downloaded at one time, even if they have several different home languages.

Improving student outcomes by improving parent and guardian communications

Engaging and communicating with parents, families, and guardians is essential to a district’s multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) implementation. Student plans are commonly used to help facilitate ongoing communication around how a student is growing, the instruction they’re receiving at school, and the additional support they might need at home.

However, if a student’s home language is different than the language spoken at school, it can be extremely difficult to communicate key information with families and guardians.

eduCLIMBER’s smartFORMS help educators eliminate that challenge. Not only do smartFORMS document and share key information about students with all stakeholders, but they can now be quickly translated into a student’s home language so that parents and guardians can better understand the information being shared with them. As a result, teachers are equipped to collaborate with parents and guardians to support each of their students and continually build trusting relationships between school and home.
